For younger dancers, being in front of the camera can be a positive and confidence-building experience. It encourages a sense of pride in what they’ve accomplished, while also allowing them to see their technique from a new perspective.
For those pursuing dance more seriously, professional images can play an important role in building a portfolio. They help document technique and can be used for auditions, applications, and future opportunities.
Which Photography Style Is Right for You?

Every dancer is at a different stage of their dance journey, so the most suitable photography style can depend on your age, experience and confidence in front of the camera. We offer two different dance photography styles, allowing us to choose an approach that is suitable for you and the type of photographs you would like to create.

Traditional Dance Photography is generally recommended for younger dancers, or anyone who is less experienced or less confident in front of the camera. This style focuses more on dance technique and form and provides a more structured approach to the shoot, giving dancers time to become comfortable in front of the camera.
As your confidence grows throughout the session, we can gradually introduce some of our more creative dance photography poses. This makes the Traditional Dance Photography style a good starting point for dancers who may not have much experience in front of the camera, while still giving us the opportunity to create some more varied images towards the end of the shoot.

Creative Dance Photography is recommended for dancers who have some previous experience and are comfortable working in front of the camera. It is particularly popular with older dancers and those returning for a second session, but it can also be a great option for younger dancers who have the experience and confidence to explore a more creative style.
This is our most creative dance photography style and gives dancers more freedom to experiment with more complex poses and a wider range of outfits. The shoot can be adapted around your age, ability and experience, allowing us to create a varied collection of bold and visually striking images that reflects your individual style as a dancer.

We also offer Audition and CV Photography, which can be added to any studio session. This option is designed for dancers who require headshots and specific posed dance photographs for dance school applications or auditions.

Traditional Dance Photography
Designed for both beginner and advanced dancers, each image is carefully composed to showcase your technique and form. Shot in the studio against a traditional white backdrop, the photographs have an elegant, timeless feel.

Creative Dance Photography
This is our most creative dance photography style and is especially popular with older dancers looking to take their portfolio to the next level. Photographs are taken in the studio using carefully considered lighting to highlight each dancer’s talent through bold, visually striking poses.

Audition and CV Photography
Designed for dancers who require additional headshots for their CVs, dance school applications, or auditions, these portraits can also include meaningful props, such as trophies or sashes from recent events, helping to showcase your achievements.

The one-hour studio session is recommended for younger dancers or for those planning only a minimal number of outfit changes.

Our two-hour studio session is our most popular option. It gives dancers the opportunity to change into multiple outfits during the photoshoot.

The three-hour studio session is ideal for dancers who need extra time to accommodate the number of outfits they wish to model. It is also well suited to clients who require Audition and CV Photography.

Photography Style
Each session is tailored to suit the dancer’s individual ability and age. During the shoot, we include a variety of photographic styles to create a dynamic mix of dance photos. Choosing a longer studio session, such as the three-hour option, allows more time to experiment with different lighting setups, backgrounds, and creative ideas.
Duration of the Shoot
On the day of your photo shoot, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before your booking so you can make the most of your time in the studio.
Model Release Form
For clients under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will need to sign a model release form prior to the photoshoot. This standard consent form grants permission for their child to be photographed.
Health & Safety
As full-time professional photographers, we are DBS-checked and fully insured with public liability cover. Certificates are available on request. Clients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during the photo shoot.
